Our mandate
The Canadian Payday Loan Association (CPLA) was established in 2004, with a mandate to work with the federal and provincial governments to achieve a regulatory framework that protects consumers and allows for a viable competitive industry.
There are roughly 1,400 retail outlets in Canada, 535 of which are CPLA members.
Our priority areas of concern
Working with provinces on consumer protection practices and a rate of borrowing that allows for both the protection of consumers and a viable industry.
