Michael J.L. Thompson (ex-officio)
Michael joined the CPLA as Vice President, Public Affairs in 2005, and on May 1, 2006 assumed the role of President. He has been instrumental in the development of the Association’s compliance framework.
Michael has an extensive background in government policy development and regulatory affairs. He has been a public affairs advisor to multiple private sector companies and industry associations. He is the former Economic Policy Advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister of Canada, and Director of Communications of the Canadian Federation of Labour. He holds an M.A. Political Science from York University, a B.A., Political Science from the University of Winnipeg, and a B.A., Philosophy from Acadia University.
